QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Has a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate

 

  1. Has at least three years of custodial experience

 

  1. Has the ability to read and follow written directions

 

  1. Has the physical ability to perform heavy physical labor

 

  1. Has the ability to lift and move objects weighing at least 50 pounds numerous times per day

 

  1. Exhibits personal habits in keeping with the assigned responsibilities

 

  1. Has demonstrated ability to relate and work well with people

 

  1. Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities

 

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

 

JOB GOAL: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, develop, and eat; to provide staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place to teach, eat and provide services and to provide leadership in the accomplishment of these responsibilities.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Be familiar with and follow written guidelines, policies, procedures and directions from supervisors related to job responsibilities

 

  1. Coordinates the custodial care of the buildings and grounds of the school system; carries on a maintenance program current and preventive, and maintains safety and security of all school property

 

  1. Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times

 

  1. Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity

 

  1. Prepares a plan for snow removal and landscaping

 

  1. Check daily to ensure that all exits are open and all panic hardware is working properly during the hours of building occupancy

 

  1. Organizes and implements orientation and training programs for the various segments of the custodial and maintenance staff.

 

  1. Prepares and administers the budget for maintenance, ground security, and custodial services.

 

  1. Recommends purchase of custodial and maintenance, equipment and supplies

 

  1. Organizes and implements a program of preventative maintenance

 

  1. Directs the maintenance of all buildings and grounds as to cleanliness and safety through proper chain of command

 

  1. Assumes primary responsibility of the safe conditions and maintenance of lighting fixtures, electrical apparatus, fixtures, custodial and maintenance equipment, wiring, air conditioning, refrigeration, heating units, similar electric elements and plumbing in the facilities owned or operated by the district.

 

  1. Coordinate program for purchasing, receiving, storing, and issuing of al custodial maintenance and grounds supplies, material, and equipment

 

  1. Report immediately to the Principal any damage to school property

 

  1. Remain on the school premises during school work hours, and during non-school hours when attendance is required by the Principal

 

  1. Assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each day including lights, heat, windows and doors

 

  1. Move furniture or equipment within the building as required for various activities as directed by the Principal or designee

 

  1. Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste

 

  1. Make minor repairs such as chairs, desks, and locks

 

  1. Assist with orientation of new custodial staff

 

  1. Assist the principal in scheduling, organizing, and supervising custodial services

 

  1. Assist the principal in preparing work schedules, assignments and coordination of dates

 

  1. Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor
